An old man who had a cow.... October 18, 2005 BDT (Sacramento, CA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I love this CD, plain and simple. I had only ever heard a few songs off of 'Thanks for the Ether' and was impressed but not immensely. With this CD, I am impressed...immensely.
First off, it sounds better than any live CD I have ever heard. I usually avoid live recordings like the plague but this one brings me new hope for live stuff.
Second, and most importantly, the music is inspired and practically brilliant (Not Hyperbole). Every song stands on its own and is shockingly eclectic in its own right. From their "Cow Punk" to their "Classical" to songs like "The Mayor" (which is gorgeous, for lack of better word).
If you have heard any of Rasputina's music and even kinda liked it I recommend this CD. If you listen to it and don't find yourself singing "Wicked Dickie" throughout the day, I will give you a nice shiney quarter.
I love Rasputina!!!! October 19, 2005 L. A. Moran (South of the Mason Dixon line.) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Love the remakes of Barracuda and Been a Long Time. No one believes me when I say that it is a Cello instead of guitars.
Love Wicked Dickie and When I was a Young Girl as well. Buy it. This CD is better, in my opion, than the studio CD's.

Ever since I bought their first CD back when I heard they opened for Nirvana some years ago their music has never failed to entertain me. Melora Creager is a quirky, strange, wonderful, and straight up great songwriter.
Her banter is odd and funny, as expected (I hear there was a flood...thankfully not a molasses flood...).
Her stuff keeps getting stronger with each album it seems. Saline Queen, Mother was an opium smoker and High on Life, kick her music up a notch to me. I listen to Frustration Plantation more than her other stuff.
I find her own songs stronger than the covers but this album, top to bottom is what I really enjoy most in music--when it's not like anything else (to quote the great Kinks song...).
Rasputina is not like anyone else and great at it.
A must have CD September 28, 2007 Angie (Colorado) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When i first got this cd, i couldnt stop playing it, and for being live its sounds excellent, i also (like a previous reviewer) hate live cds they are usually quite bad. but not this one..
I recommend this cd to anyone who likes rasputina and needs to complete their collection.
but i also recommend this cd to anyone who wants to try something new and wont be disappointed!
from the quirky song.. wicked dickie (which is very catchy) to the song i personally love which is Rose. K and her versions of barracuda and rock n roll. and a great song but sad A Quitter.
and then theres melora with her banter in between songs (but not so long of a banter that it gets old) just cute little saying and intros.
impressive November 19, 2007 nicest of the damned (Salt Lake City) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'll admit, firstly, that I am a fan of live recordings, but am not one of those types that insists they are always better.
A lot of these arrangements I had not heard before I bought the CD. I later listened to the studio cuts and there is just no comparison. As the earlier reviewer said, Signs of the Zodiac and Hunters Kiss are AMAZING along with a few others that, performed live, are even more intense and riveting than they were on the original CD.
If you don't appreciate Melora's quirky and someone difficult to grasp sense of humor then perhaps this album is not for you. My sister liked the recordings I played for her but just didn't get the humor inbetween which I personally adore.
